Sam Vickers Fine Art
Journeyman. Digger. Observer. Photographer. Storyteller. Sam’s current practice consists of these five key characteristics. Each project works towards the construction of a situation outside of the studio environment; coupled with a rationale that circulates around actions and experiences. The action of digging, and all that that signifies, has become vital to his practice. The subsequent delivery of the work, from the edge of the spade to the gallery wall, exists through a variety of documentative techniques including film, photography, drawing and text pieces. Many of the subjects sit in a somewhat dark field between Fine Art and Archaeology, questioning our existence, rationality, landscape and view of the ‘site’.
